Beyond the Product List: How 30 Years of Ingredient Sourcing Changes What ASI Can Do for You

A supplier's product list doesn't define what it can source. How 30 years of manufacturer relationships lets ASI find hard-to-source specialty ingredients.

When companies evaluate a new ingredient supplier, the product list is often the first place they look. In the specialty ingredient industry, that list only tells part of the story.

At ASI International - Specialty Ingredients, our portfolio represents the ingredients we actively work with. It does not define the limits of what we can source.

For more than 30 years, ASI has worked within the ingredient industry, building relationships with manufacturers and supply partners across a broad range of ingredient categories. That network lets us approach sourcing differently, particularly when a customer needs something that isn't easily found in a standard catalog.

Experience Matters Most When Sourcing Gets Complicated

Finding a common ingredient at a standard specification is usually straightforward. The challenge begins when a project calls for something more specific.

A customer may need a particular assay, botanical species, plant part, country of origin, processing method, carrier, particle size, or certification. Another project may call for an ingredient that is simply difficult to obtain from a commercially viable source.

This is where experience and relationships matter.

Three decades in the industry have given ASI an expansive network of ingredient manufacturers and supply partners. When an ingredient isn't available through our existing portfolio, we can reach further into that network to identify potential sources and determine whether they can meet the project's requirements.

Our portfolio shows what we supply. It doesn't define what we can source.

Standard Specifications Aren't Always the Only Option

Sometimes the ingredient exists, but the standard specification isn't quite right for the application.

Depending on the ingredient, the manufacturer, the project requirements, and the anticipated commercial volume, customization may be possible, changes to concentration, particle size, carrier system, processing method, or other specification parameters.

Not every ingredient can be customized, and custom manufacturing typically requires sufficient commercial quantities. But knowing which manufacturers have these capabilities can open possibilities that aren't obvious from a traditional ingredient search.

Tell Us What You're Trying to Accomplish

There is an important difference between asking:

"Can you supply this ingredient?"

and asking:

"Can you help us find an ingredient that will accomplish this?"

The second question gives us far more room to help.

If a formulator is working through challenges with solubility, processing, taste, cost, availability, or specification requirements, our team can help explore ingredient options and alternative approaches.

We don't replace the work of a customer's formulation or R&D team. We bring another resource to the conversation: decades of sourcing experience and access to manufacturers who work with these materials every day.

More Than What You See Online

ASI works across Human Nutrition, Pet Nutrition, Food & Beverage, and Personal Care, supplying ingredients that range from widely used nutritional materials to highly specialized inputs.

If you don't see what you're looking for on our website, that doesn't necessarily mean we can't supply it. In many cases, that's where the conversation begins.

Tell us what you're looking for: the specifications you need, the application you're developing, and the quantities you're considering. Our team can work through our network and help determine what options may be available.

After 30 years in this industry, the most valuable thing we can offer often isn't an ingredient already sitting on a product list.

It's knowing where to look for the one that isn't.
